Bramwell Coles recieved a congratulatory handshake from hos boyhood hero, the great American march-writer John Philip Sousa, for this composition.

No 2 Selection - Constant Trust (General Series no 1179) by Eric Ball Three well-known songs are the basis of this piece: "Trust and Obey", "The Cross is not Greater than His Grace", "Trusting as the Moments Fly". The prevailing mood of the music is that of joyful confidence and hope, although the natural stress of life, bringing temptation to doubt, is illustrated before the music is brought to a restful conclusion. This piece was originally published in 1940.

No 3 Song setting - Secret Prayer (General Series no 1463,2) by Erik Leidzén Published in 1958, this is an interesting and varied treatment of an old song. The original words of the chorus are as follows: O, the voice so dear to me. Breathing gently on my ear! Needy soul, look up and see. Tis the Saviour speaks to thee.

No 4 Selection - Divine Communion (General Series no 1255) by Arthur Gullidge A devotional type of selection, published in 1945, incorporating the following songs: "All there is of me", "Loed, Sweet will of God" and "Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide".
