No 2096   Ein´ Feste Burg by Andrew Machereth

'Ein' Feste Burg' is the best known hymn by Martin Luther. Written in the 16th century, the words have been translated many times, the most popular English translation by Frederick Hedge, 'A mighty fortress is our God'.  This up-tempo arrangement was originally written for The Salvation Army German Territory Music School in 2007.

No 2097   March  -  Prayer Warriors UK by Nicholas Samuel

This march was written for the commissioning of the Prayer Warriers session of Salvation Army cadets in the United Kingdom Territory with the Republic of Ireland of which the composer was a member. Two tunes are featured, 'I'll stand for Christ' and 'My Jesus, I love thee' while there is also a reference to the Prayer Warriors sessional song

No 2098   Song setting - The Sweetest Name I Know by James Anderson

This setting represents the final submission for publication by James Anderson who passed away in October 2010 after a long and brave fight with illness. Jim was not only a fine composer and conductor but also a Christian gentleman whose enthusiasm for life and music ministry within The Salvation Army inspired and touched many people. This uncomplicated setting of the beautiful gospel song is a fitting tribute to Jim's life which people can now share through his own testimony

No 2099   The Joy of Loving Hearts by Kennth Downie

The title comes from the first verse of a 12th century hymn attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux, 'Jesus, thou joy of loving hearts, Thou fount of life, thou light of men'. George Marshall's tune 'Harton-Lea', named after the district in South Shields where he lived, is associated with these words, despite being written several centuries apart
