No 5   Festival March  -  Rocky Mountain Centennial
by Ivor Bosanko

This jubilant, vigorous march was first performed by the Chicago Staff Band in Denver, Colorado in 1987 to honor the centennial observances of the Inter-Mountain Division, headquartered in that city. Because of its distinctive geography, the composer has cleverly incorporated several themes referring to the mountains and prairies of the area, including "I´m living on the mountain", "Climb up sunshine mountain" and "Home on the range".

No 6   Rhapsodic Variations  -  Laude
by James Curnow

"Laude" literally means hymn of praise. These four variations evoke the many mood of praise; from brilliant exultation to quiet reflection, concluding majestically with the main theme, "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation". This work was written in 1987 to honor the 100th anniversary of the New York Staff Band and Male Chorus.

No 7   Hymn Setting  -  Nicaea
by William Himes

Based on the 19th century melody of the same name by Dr J.B. Dykes, this three-verse setting draws its inspiration from the familiar andmajestic text of Reginald Heber

No 8   Festival Arrangement  -  Simple Gifts
by Ray Steadman-Allen

A light and cheerful setting of the American Shaker melody of the same name
